Articles and gender: el, la, un, una
Every Spanish noun is masculine or feminine. Use el / un with masculine nouns and la / una with feminine ones: el libro, la casa.
Nouns ending in -o are usually masculine (el perro) and nouns ending in -a are usually feminine (la mesa). There are exceptions like el día and la mano, so learn each noun with its article.
Plural: el becomes los and la becomes las. Un and una become unos and unas ("some").
Adjectives match the noun: el coche rojo, la casa roja.
Pattern: el / la / los / las + noun
