Estar: location and temporary states
Eu estou, ele está, nós estamos, eles estão. Use estar for where things are and how they are right now.
Location of people and things: Estou em casa.
Feelings and conditions: Estou cansado. A sopa está fria.
Estar + -ndo is the Brazilian "-ing": Estou comendo. In Portugal: estou a comer.
Pattern: subject + estar + place / state
