Home / Learn Mandarin / HSK 1 / 没 / 没有 (méi yǒu): "did not" and "do not have"
没 / 没有 (méi yǒu): "did not" and "do not have"
没有 means "do not have". 没 before a verb means it did not happen: 我没去 "I did not go".
有 "to have" is always negated with 没, never 不: 我没有钱 "I have no money".
Before an action verb, 没 or 没有 says the action did not happen (or has not happened yet): 他还没来 "he has not come yet".
Do not add 了 after a verb negated with 没.
Pattern: Subject + 没(有) + verb / 没有 + noun
