Articles: der, die, das, ein, eine

German has three genders: der Tisch (masculine), die Lampe (feminine), das Buch (neuter). The plural is always die.

Gender is mostly arbitrary, so learn every noun with its article. All nouns are written with a capital letter.

Ein is "a" for masculine and neuter nouns, eine for feminine.

Some endings help: -ung, -heit, -keit are die; -chen is das.
